iPod touch Maybe I can get help here..?

I tried other forums but they seem dead. Ok so,

I just got my iPod touch yesterday and this is the first real day I can play around with it. This might sound sad but, I need help syncing my iPod..

This is my first ipod btw. Anyway, i downloaded itunes v7 and have it running. I hooked up my ipod to itunes and im not sure if it recognizes it. Once i plugged it in, nothing happened so then i reffered to the guide
. it tells me to follow the on screen instructions, but i dont see any! It also tells me to choose "ipod touch" under devices or whatever but i dont see devices. Can someone take me throug h a step-by-step tutorial? I cant get onto youtube becuase of this i do believe.. Thanks very much for any help!!

Plug it in...then open iTunes and see if it recognizes the touch.

I plugged it in, waited and nothing happens. When I signed into iTunes, I went on iTunes wifi store and was able to download an album, but I still can't get onto youtube. It says I need to be logged into iTunes with an Internet connection to enable youtube. Man im so confused :/
