Long story short, my son's MBA13" late 2015 only has 128GB and always 95% full, the route of a new SSD doesn't make sense for the price, almost 200 bucks for a 256GB is a no no, seen these things which I suppose being microSD cards slots which go into the SD slot and become flush with the case which run about a 100 bucks for 128GB and it is already a better option, good to store music or stuff not accessed frequently but wondering if there is any better option cost wise.

Thank you for your suggestions

I would look into getting a third party nvme drive, Macbook adapter, and installing High Sierra.

I didn't know about this possibility, actually never before read about these NVME, would like to read if anybody ever attempted such a thing with a 2015 13" MBA, that would be the most viable solution, I wouldn't mind forking out 150 bucks or so to upgrade to 256GB external storage being not a solution.

Thank you
