Because the media is focused on the Obama/Clinton race perpetuating the myth that she has a chance rather than covering McCain. They could be doing it constructively but the attacks against each other have guaranteed that anything they can throw at each other will get headlines while McCain hangs out in the background unless something truly shocking comes out and attacking Islam isn't really all that shocking at this time.

Thank god religious people (mainly leaders) know what is going on in this world. We would be lost without them.

Because this perpetuates the stereotype that a majority of white rednecks (read: McCain's primary voting block) already believe. Face it, if the country were predominantly black, and the media (and most importantly, media ownership) were predominantly black, and a solid chunk of their viewership agreed with Rev. Wright, then that would have been a non-story. In the same light, were our country and our media controlled primarily by Muslims, this would be a huge story.

No, it's not, it's worse, because AFAIK, Parsley is a part of the campaign and actively campaigning for McCain, whereas Wright isn't.

Wright's comments were racist against the American majority.

Parsley's comments reflect the racism and xenophobia held by the American majority.

McCain sought the endorsement to curry favor in the Bible-belt. It would be un-bay-leaf-able if McCain wouldn't relish a discussion were Obama defended Islam.

Yeah, while the Dems pepper each other with insults, McCainers are laughing at our cloven party and saying things that really ought to get fenneled to the media instead.

Kind of a chili climate for American politics, don't you think?
