"Obama returns to the spot where he announced his run for president and promised change nine years ago - but now laments that 'mean' politics has become WORSE!"

Such an impotent cry baby. Failure to have the courage to look in the mirror to see it's his fault. He repeatedly slandered the Police, Republicans along with anyone he dislikes. All the while his weakness was being gripped with fear, unable to stand up for the USA. So fearful he genuflected at the feet of foreign leaders humbly apologizing, groveling for forgiveness.

POTUS continues to live in his own little imaginary world. Poor little man, B.H.O. the Great Imposter.

Well since you're going on about Obama again, care to clarify how he's a hypocrite for doing non-Muslim things whilst never once claiming to be a Muslim?

"Nine years ago to the day, Barack Obama stood before the Old State Capitol in Springfield and announced his run for president, declaring it was 'time to turn the page' on cynical, special-interest politics."

That's a good one. (Said like Arnie)

First, the fact that you felt compelled to create this hateful thread only proves Obama's point. Second, the fact that someone as mean-spirited and bigoted as Trump is being embraced by the Republican electorate is the real proof. I can only imagine how ugly things will get when all of his supporters realize his is just a con-man. Nothing good can come from embracing hate and bigotry.

I think he might mean presidents seem to age at an accelerated rate in office.

No one aged worse than Carter and he served one term. Job damn near turned him into Methuselah.

I'm pretty sure the common sense fairy that sits invisible on shoulders should be able to understand that looking older after a stint in office doesn't mean one dies younger.

Too bad I said appearance (looking older), which has nothing to do with a standard of time measurement.

The original post is an absolute hoot, and a classic example of inside-the-bubble thinking. Let's recap:

Obama, both before and after his first term: I want to bring everyone together.

Republican Congress, right after his election: We need to gang up on him. No matter what he tries to do, we'll be there to block it. We'll make him totally powerless.

Conservative media, ever since: Obama can't do anything. He's impotent. He's such a divider! Oh, and by the way, it's his own fault!

(And yeah, this thread has the potential to end up in the place where three others have already gone.)

Racism and bigotry claims lost their bite so long ago from both misuse and overuse.

Yes, and Trump along with all of his supporters are just a figment of our imagination. Racism and bigotry sell.

They do seem a bit lost on those who apparently don't really have any kind of moral compass.

It's rich because you'd have to live in Illinois to understand that it it his party that perpetuates it in this state. We have the closest thing this country will ever see to a dictator running the state and it's not the Governor. Michael Madigan (speaker for over 40yrs) calls the shots, makes the rules, and will destroy anyone who opposes him in the state legislature. A democrat named Ken Duncan has the audacity to say enough is enough and he's getting primaried and his opponent funded through Madigan connections.

Sanders is pretty damn good at hoops. Could do worse than pick an old guy from Brooklyn for the championship. Young people in this country seem to feel that way...
