I thought we stopped paying attention to Mel Gibbson after Passion of the Christ.

Granted, that is an above-average rhetorical question, leekohler, but what does it have to do with my sentence?

Umm...not a whole lot. I was just curious if you listened to the audio or just read the article.

So these are the kinds of things everyone says to their spouses when they're angry?

    Glad I'm gay.

The answer here is simple; if you don't like what he says, don't see movies he is on or ones that he is a producer.

Many of his big fans will stick by him no matter what he does and deny that he could do any wrong. It's not unlike those MJ fans who insist he never slept in a bed with small children. When I look at talented people like Gibson, MJ, and Tiger Woods, I know what they are good at what they do in their professions but I don't expect them to be the Dalai Lama.

I also remember the shocking video of David Hasselhoff or the audio of Alec Baldwin being verbally abusive. It was sickening, no doubt, but when I see any performer/celebrity have issues with their behavior (Lindsay Lohan comes to mind most recently), I am saddened but not really shocked.

What is just as bad as bad behavior and really actually much worse, from what celebrities or non-celebrities do in their misdeeds, is how the press loves to make fun of a bad situation for the sake of shock value.

It's the reason I no longer listen or read anything CNN or Fox, or for that matter any American media, which has become all personal hearsay and gossip media as far as I am concerned.

He's a drunk--a lot of people say crazy things that they regret when they sober up.

Or they say things that they actually believe and are allowed to come out once alcohol kills their inhibitions. The real regret is more like a typical 5 year old, sorry they got caught.

I think we have enough of a track record to know Mel is a racist, bigoted, douche bag.

All I remember is that when I went to see Borat at a theater in a part of St. Louis with a large Jewish population, they showed the preview for that, and the second Mel Gibson's name came up on the screen, everyone booed and popcorn started flying at the screen.

I guess the irony is, we were all seeing a movie about an anti-Semitic character, but at least you know it's all a joke in Borat ;)
