I dont see any intimidation there and chances are the rifles are not loaded, they just have the magazines in them.

I am going to a similar rally near my home on Sat. Although since I will be out all day I won't be bringing my rifle with me....

Correct me if I am wrong but it sounds like you are a gun enthusiast.

So why are you going to an anti gun rally?

Provocation under the guise of expressing ones rights.
Kinda like the Klan marching at a race unity event to promote their right of free speech.

    Legal, but tasteless.

You paint a very ugly, but very true picture.

If anything I think it just shows how correct the anti gun movement is!

There is an anti-gun rally being held near my hometown Sat. A group of pro gun enthusiasts are staging a counter demonstration across the street. I will show up and lend my support to the pro-gun folks.

What do you hope to accomplish from this counter demo?

So, what if the roles are reversed ? Anti-gunners staging a counter-demonstration at a pro-gun rally? I guess you think that is acceptable?

    ----------

It is a way to voice support for the second amendment and gun-owners.
The hope is to draw a larger crowd than the anti's and minimize their presence.

Also, as an FYI I just found out that the organizers of the counter demonstration have told us no open display of firearms will be allowed.

Who cares? It's their right to protest as much as the other side.

There's nothing wrong with a counter demonstration.

Ideally they'd be holding hand-made signs ... instead of AR-15s.

What do you think the point of toting those around is?

    IMO, it's a veiled threat.

A reminder that if the **** hits the fan, that they are the ones with the guns.

    A real POS move, IMO.

I think that it is called "Freedom of Speech" millions died to preserve it, for all people.

I still think this quote sums it up best.

I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Sorry to be a pedantic jerk, but Voltaire didn't say it...

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"
---Evelyn Beatrice Hall (in her biography of Voltaire, often misattributed to Voltaire himself)
    :p:D

BTW: I thought it was Voltaire, too.

This reminds me of when gay people just want to "intimidate" the anti-gay marriage side they just start making out. :D Maybe at the next anti-abortion rally someone can go and perform an abortion in the middle of it all?

Of course its their right. But is it correct? Did it accomplish anything? Maybe those in favor of gun rights might want to look at their tactics and decide if stuff like this does more harm than good. Nobody needs to do things like this just to prove their rights.

No. I think their intention is pretty clear.

    Don't **** with me, I've got a gun and it's my mother****ing right.

    All paranoids are assumptive.
You are just not applying the diagnosis correctly in this situation.

I thought it was virtually their mission statement.

When the **** hits that fan, at least we've got our guns.

That is easy, to show that not everyone agrees with the ideas being proposed to curb 2nd amendment rights.

Absolutely! The armed bozos hanging around public spaces don't seem to be intelligent or mature enough to realize what a bad image they're giving themselves. It makes a good argument for more regulation. Go them!

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

    Completely agree with this.

Makes you wonder what these people are doing with firearms in the first place.

Its always a good idea to check ones own facts before lecturing others.

At least you took your mistake well.

it's not normal to tote your gun to a gun safety rally.
