im not familiar with AMD, but i have the 2012 rMBP with the NVIDIA GT 650m and i can run it very well on low, and decent on medium settings.

With that said, if mine can run it, I'm sure yours can

Steam. I run it on the boot camp side of my Mac.

Would you be willing to perform a little experiment? :)

I hate to generalise, but the Mac version of this game runs absolutely terribly (for anyone considering not running it on Windows)

I hate to agree, but you are right: I had to turn the settings to the absolute minimum to have it at least borderline playable on my 2012 rMBP – despite it meeting the requirements for the game. I've never seen a Feral game perform so poorly on a Mac that meets the minimum requirements.

But apparently we can thank Apple for that: SoM requires Shader Model 5, which would only be available with OpenGL 4.3. We have OGL 4.1. So Feral had to work around these limitations and tried to make things work as best as they could.

    Thanks!

Make sure you turn on Steam Overlay so you can measure the fps.

everything on low or off at 1920x1080 ran at about 30FPS.. give or take a few. It was certainly playable, but the textures and graphics certainly aren't anything to write home about. I had better performance and graphics on windows side, but still playable on my GT 650M on mac side
