Basically it's the Google Maps Web App (maps.google.com) but without the Safari navigation bar at the bottom and with the old iOS 5 icon.

It's pretty cool but it's just a bookmark to the web page, not an actual web app. The UI is streamed not cached so it launches more slowly than the regular Google Maps web app.
