When you all attack Romney for his wealth, that he earned, how to you reconcile that with this pic? Normally I delete stupid chain emails, but I thought I would post this pic and get some insight.

Just curious about the mental gymnastics you must use to think that way.

I personally have never criticized Romney for having money. I criticize him for his policies and lack of character though.

BTW- when did Oprah run for office?

of course she hasnt ran for office, that was not the point.

and you personally I wasnt referring to, but many on this site attack him for his money, I just wanted to make that point..

I love the "out of touch" with the middle class comments, I wonder if they were screaming the same thing when kerry ran? Even though most if them were in grade school at the time.

Actually, it was the Republicans who were claiming that Kerry was an elitist and out of touch with the middle class, but he kind of was.

As for Romney, he is out of touch as well. Probably more so. However, the bigger complaint is not that he's wealthy, but that he is hiding how wealthy he is, he got wealthy in part by destroying American jobs, and he's paying less in income taxes than either of us do.

lets not forget Romey also cheats the tax system and hides a lot of money in tax havens.

I do not question Romeny money but how he act with it and hides it makes me question his ethics or more so complete lack of them.

If romney had done anything illegal, he would be getting nailed in the MSM...he has done nothing that anyone else who makes money does.

I suppose if you were smart enough, and able to make hundreds of millions of dollars you wouldn't want to maximize how much you can keep?

    how noble of you.

    ----------

I see you have added "cheats" now....that implies breaking the law...so I assume he has been prosecuted? oh wait, he hasn't.

whoops I messed up the quotes..

If I had that much cash, I would not bitch about paying taxes, nor would I try to hide my money. Illegal? Maybe not. Unethical? Hell yes.

Ok, assume he's doing everything by the letter of the law. Doesn't that imply that the law should be fixed?

so using legal tax havens is cheating the system?

    ----------

I agree that our tax system needs some MAJOR fixing, but bagging on anyone who uses legal means to minimize taxes is just bizarre....

It's not bizarre. It's pointing out that by following the law does not mean you are being a good citizen to your country, especially if you are in the running for an elected office and should have no financial worries.

so I can assume that you are a good citizen, and we know that because you must pay as much as you possibly can in taxes right? or does that only apply to others? so YOU are a really really good citizen and you try and minimize your tax liability, but others, especially those running for office, should pay as much as they can to show they are a good citizen?

got it. Do you have a job BTW?

I pay all my taxes. I don't do loopholes or shelters. And yes, I have a very good job, thanks- not too far below six figures at the moment.

And you're damn right I expect those running for office to do the same.

I love your special little list..do you have it framed on your wall?

Most of that stuff is true, if you are trying to wreck this country and "fundamentally transform" it into something else.

    ----------

very good citizen, the state thanks you

    ----------

I expect those running for office to follow the law, not pay the absolute most they can in taxes

Same here and I'm not sure why you're asking if we have a job. I do not hire someone to move money to avoid various taxes.

If they actually cared about this country, they wouldn't be using tactics to pay less than its citizens. I actually paid city tax owed, even though it wasn't legally required, because I care about the city I live in.

What do you disagree with on the list? It's not my list, and no, it is not on my wall. I don't worship politicians, but I do give them credit when due.

    What are you babbling about?

I also expect those running for office to behave in an ethical manner.

One more time- what on that list do you disagree with?

    I believe he meant percentage-wise.

You really are not doing yourself any favors behaving this way.

on the list, I agree...obama has done all that stuff...my point is that much of that list is hurting this country, not helping it.

Whoa now, mcrain may have prepared his take return last year.

Isn't that what mcrain does for a living? Find tax loopholes for his clients?
