Hey. I'm looking for a Mobile Me alternative that only syncs my contacts and calendars. I don't need hosting, or drive space. Free would be best.

Thanks in advance.

Try teh google , naturally. Google apps provide you with just about everything you need (imap mail, remote calendaring, contacts) and more random (yet useful) add-ons. Plus they provide pretty good iPhone interface. Free.

i'm gonna try glide.

I just want something that will sync mail.app and ical on my mac with my iphone wirelessly.

I use gmail now, but it seems like their apps are a random hodge-podge that are not very well integrated. Perhaps I am just missing something, but I just don't "get it".

yeah, ive used glide very frequently.
it syncs between my mac and pc effortlessly.
honestly, it might even be better than mobile me.
there i said it. dont kill me now
but its like an online desktop.
its very interesting
i suggest checking it out

sorry, but i dont have an iphone. but go to the glide site on your iphone, and see what happens.
i used the iphone simulator and it turns out that you need to go to www.glidemobile.com. i have a feeling that it wont completely sync with your iPhone though. sorry.

i want exactly what mobile me does, without the costs and troubles of mobile me. guess this isnt what i need.

thx any way

to the OP: been there, tried it.. etc
like me you'll just have to face the fact that if you want something like mobile me then your gonna have to pay.. i know its not the answer you wanted

I don't mind the cost, if MobileMe just worked as it should. I have been with .mac for a year now, and it never really worked completely either, so I really never expected much from MobileMe either. Very nice in theory, very bad in execution. I will NOT be renewing, even if it were free.

I'm actually considering Mobile Me, but the trial isn't doing it for me yet. My sister is getting a mac for college so I'll probably grab mobile me for $69.

Try Plaxo

I have been using plaxo. There is a limit to the free version for contacts but I find it works with mac, outlook, gmail, yahoo. Only issue I have is it used to be soley for managing contacts and calendars. Now they want to do a part of social networking. (I don't use this feature, I just sync contacts).
