Monterey feels alot faster on older Mac's than Big Sur.

I've recently started dual-booting my 15" Pro with Big Sur and Monterey Public Beta. Monterey feels much faster from first pressing the power button to having the system ready to launch apps, Big Sur overall has always been slower than any previous release on my machine (except early versions of Catalina) so it's nice to see that Apple is making their OS faster on older, but still supported machines.

Does anyone else with older Macs feel this way always?

MacBook 2016. Like you, my impression (not measured) is that Monterey is faster to get going. Admittedly, I don't restart it very often - my current uptime (including sleeps) is over 8 days. That's a good thing too!

I don't really notice any speed difference it certainly does not seem slower - but IMHO - it does seem more polished and robust on my 2015 rMBP - it's like - it is finally what Catalina and Big Sur were supposed to be?

Exactly: Catalina, Big Sur and Bigger Sur.

There are fewer changes at the kernel level and root processes. The user interface and inbuilt apps are just more polished.

Haha, my MacBook Pro's uptime is around 6-7 days. Impressive that it can still be fast.
