More than half of Republicans polled OK with postponing the 2020 election

Oh my lord, the stupid hurts!

The story does go on to list all the reasons this is a totally impractical idea, but if true it does show the degree to which fake news -- genuinely fake news, not the Trump kind -- has poisoned conservative voters' minds.

The same people that will wave The Constitution in your face to prove how much they love their country no doubt.

    Crazy and indefensible.

Makes it clear Hilary was right to label half of Republicans deplorables.

Being right doesn't make it less politically incorrect.

That poll is stupid. I do wonder why are some so afraid of ensuring that the vote is as accurate as it can be.
Deplorables? That's a term that some wear with pride.

I thought Conservatives were against political correctness?

There's a difference between making sure voting processes are tight, which I'd support - especially in the backend where the opportunity for fraud is greater and delaying the election.

I agree that's why I said the poll was stupid. Both sides every time the other side terms are ending act like we're going delay elections.

I don't think you'll find a poll with 52% of democrats agreeing to postpone an election.

    You'd be surprised.
Remember, these were people who were calling for an election nullification based on what "might" have occurred during the election.
You don't get do overs because you didn't like the election result.

My God how can people think it's an option on our plates to delay a federal election. If it had been, don't we think the Republicans' and the Democrats' national commitee honchos would have pulled that ripcord before even September of 2016???!!

Actually I don't even have to guess how people could come to think we could just "postpone" federal elections. This president has been gaslighting us big time about how all our democratic norms are just so much establishment red tape or ornamental hogwash, ever since he was sworn in and decided not to act "presidential" (as he had promised) after all. Why should we have rules, or require presidents to do anything like disclose visitors or tax returns or permit cameras at press gaggles or observe mossbacked protcols about how to behave towards members of Congress, blah blah blah.

And then blam... why should we have a presidential election if we think we should wait until this president certifies the electorate is suitable to vote in another election? Good question. Let me drink some more Koolaid before I answer.

A growing number of my fellow citizens continue to amaze and dismay me. There's a Qu'ran verse about "Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble". LOL I think Bill Clinton tried to turn that into the failed Don't Ask Don't Tell policy for the military back in his day, but the verse may still have its wisdoms in other situations.

I'm going to stop there and go have a nice evening. Not sure whether to castigate or thank the WaPo (and members of this forum) for keeping me informed of assorted stuff I might otherwise have left unexplored.

I propose we postpone the 2016 election and push the 2020 up to 2018.

The only question is who gets the top slot: Meteor or DeezNuts?

So Democrats are even less concerned about election shenanigans.

Curious how you came to that conclusion based on what you quoted me saying? Cause that's not what I said.

Funny, once I saw this thread I remember all the Obama fans, who wanted to do away with term limits and let him run for a third time. Rules be dammed if it's in your favor.

That's not the same thing as cancelling an election entirely though is it?

Delaying elections because the other side may win is somehow worse than keeping their party in power if it meant Clinton which at the time she was a sure win.
