I thought Bruce Schneier might be involved in this! He's like kryptonite to the TSA. :D

I don't think that the terrorists in their wildest dreams imagined 9/11 having this affect on Americans. They've won.

Truly absurd. We've spent a trillion dollars on security alone with vast amounts of it complete wastes of money.

Maybe not really won. But for sure made some deep impact on our lifestyle and on what we thought was a free society.

The aim of the terrorist is to spread terror, not so much to kill.

When you look at the state of air travel since September 2001, I'd say they kinda won.:(

This past summer, I took Amtrak instead of flying. Flooding put us 18 hours behind, but it was a nice relaxing and pretty ride with no metal detectors.

And yet if another attack happened, you would complain there wasn't enough :roll eyes:

The TSA is a ridiculous waste of time and money. I haven't flown in years (other than for deployment, which has no TSA involvement), and I'm trying to keep it that way. I drive everywhere I can.

If it did, what then? It's bad enough now.

I say back off, start profiling (and to Hell with PC), and any subsequent attacks be viewed as collateral damage in the name of Freedom.

I seem to recall some guy a while ago, that used similar scare tactics to manipulate his people.

John - Exactly. At what point will they get the message that enough is enough. There is no way to ensure absolute security and still maintain any semblance of freedom.

I really enjoyed that one. Perhaps the Mason jars gave them away?? ;)

Rob, does C4 look like icing? [IMG]

The biggest problem with Homeland Security is that it's become a way to syphon money into a load of corrupt pork-barrel projects. How many politicians have been boosting their pension plans by sponsoring these things?

    Good luck reversing that industry!

Interesting. What will I be asking for when somebody detonates a high explosive device smack in the middle of one of those ridiculous gargantuan cattle lines?

I knew that ;), but it would make one Hell of a cup-cake.

    But hold the icing.

What scared me, is that 4 Muslim women were sworn in as Canadian citizens recently, without showing their faces, and then were observed (unsubstantiated) getting into a car with New York plates and a male driver.

    WTF???

BTW, this is now in the process of changing here.

If only it was just a problem with the TSA, I flew into London two months ago. The British might sell those t shirts 'Keep calm and Carry on' but the reality is very different, they are just as twitchy.
Armed police at the airport, sniffer dogs, liquid ban. On the underground we saw police carrying out random controls of backpacks.

"When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout" doesn't fit as well on the shirt.

Funny, I got a large Swiss Army knife through TSA at Reagan in DC a few months ago. And my girlfriend just discovered she had a pair of scissors in her carry on when we landed in San Francisco after going through Dulles International in DC.

Is the TSA less of a big deal when flying international? I flew to China in October and found everything to be inoffensive.
