I beg to differ. People are scaring up. San Bernardino is arming, noting that they have terrorist cells in their midst. Ones that get through Obama's sieve like-security, on advice by terrorist created CAIR in the name of political correctness.

I don't think most people can even identify what an "assault rifle" is so their opinion on firearm ownership overall is likely rooted in ignorance to begin with.

    What is the logic here?

As I see it, easy access to guns and a culture that in general supports violence is what makes it easier for criminals and crazy people to kill.

I normally don't agree with Obama, but he is right in wanting to ban assault guns, and I would go as far to say, ban any kind of guns. No need for them.

Try owning one of these. You'll love it.

And yeah that's toddler foot in the corner as icing on the cake.

New production of assault weapons for civilian use has been banned since 1986. They must be talking about that silly weapon cosmetics ban again.

Yep, you are cright about that roach. To the uninformed an assault rifle is anything that looks mean, has a flash hider, and a magazine sticking out. I think it prolly must be black too. The idiots don't seem to grasp semiautomatc versus automatic.

Assault weapons are harmful to your checking account... user17753_pic1052_1409938745.jpeg

Fairly old pic... added and swapped quite a few things since then, including a bunch of cans.

I'm a Democrat too... However a South Dakota Democrat is called a moderate Republican in other areas. :) I don't even have an issue with conservatives and agree with a lot they say as long as they don't try and tell me being gay is my choice.

Of course that's about as bad as straight liberal men telling me what I should think when it comes to issues that deal with who I am and they are not.

The only problem I see is if someone breaks into your home they may harm you while your are deciding which weapon to use.

When it comes right down to it, everyone's an opinionated bastard. The secret of politics is knowing that it's about picking the opinionated bastards you tend to agree with more often than not.

Yep, region has something to do with it. When I lived in NorCal, I was probably to the Right of the majority. Now that I'm living back in the South, I'm pretty much a Commie, compared to most here.

But I don't buy the bi-polar nature of today's political climate. My feel is that if you don't reach across the isle on at least one issue, you're just dialing it in. But there aren't many centrist around today. In the 80s/90s, an Independent was someone who was in the middle. Nowadays, people that define themselves as Independants are mostly to the extreme of their affiliated party. Everyone spends their time screaming at each other from across the isle, while nobody works on the hard stuff in the middle.

Me, I wish Obamacare went further towards universal coverage. And I think I should be able to pick up a device to make my hunting rifle hearing safe (AKA a suppressor) at Wal-Mart.

Truly, this is an issue. If the zombie apocalypse did happen, I'd probably die while perplexed in front of my gun safes.

But I do have the little biometric ones in the house, with just one weapon. If someone did break into the house, I'd just go for the Sig P-226 TacOps. I'm more of a rifle guy, and suck at pistols. But that thing makes me shoot like a pro. Don't get me wrong, I love my Glocks, but there's just something about a well-tuned Sig?

For the record, those pics don't include my bolt rifles, revolvers, rimfires, AKs, and shotties. hey, I like too tinker.

What the national Democratic Party doesn't get when they come up with crap like this is it only hurts them in many rural States that used to have Democrats representing them in Congress. Case in point... In 2004 for 6 months the entire US Congressional delegation from SD were Democrats. Of course Tom Daschle lost that fall, but for years and years we had 2 of the 3 offices held by Democrats. Today we couldn't get a Democrat elected to one of those offices even if the Republican was a felon. Believe me when I tell you gun control and 2nd Amendment rights are a huge part of that issue.

Now I know a common thought from many liberals is "we don't need the rural US and we can just focus on our blue States." Well that sort of focus will never give you a majority in Congress again. It might win the Presidency, but unless you can tap into the rural areas the Democrats will never see congressional majorities again. What ever happened to Howard Dean's 50 State strategy?

Even when you get a Democrat elected in a red State like Heidi Heitcamp in North Dakota you have gun control groups going after her because she is pro gun rights. Do they want to lose even more?

It's frustrating because after 38 years our State really needs a party change in the Governor's office, but because the Democrats have been so labeled we just can't get it done.

Anyhow that's my rant on the whole gun control issue and the Democrats at the national level not getting the point that gun control (especially the AWB) are just wedge issues that split the party.
