just wondering whats the general consensus. I am getting my X next week. Wondering if I should just get a regular one for scratches or those tampered glass?

Many thanks!

I would suggest Tempered glass pre-protectors, which seem to have some more durability and added scratch resistance, but they will shatter if damage, thus resulting in need of a replacement.

Hands down iCarez 2.5D if you’ll be using a case.

3D if you’re not:

Here’s a quick vid of my horrible installation but wonderful results:

It seems glass is the one of choice for many these days. I've never used one myself, but may do if my first preference doesn't work out...see below...

I've got a film one ready to go... https://goo.gl/3cAJ

^They're a solid option & mask any fine scratches, that'll inevitably form, very well. This is because they have a gel-like surface (non-sticky though) that absorbs scrapes that may otherwise penetrate a hard surface.

Film protectors also increase your case options, as they're more forgiving re: low front lips - glass protectors are thicker & may end up flush or even protrude the thin front lips of certain cases.

I've never used a screen protector (or a case for that matter) and never had a problem
I'd be interested to know what percentage of users:
  • Use a case
  • Use a screen protector
  • Use a case and screen protector
  • Use nothing

Get that poll happening.

Also, it's "tempered" glass, OP. :D

I use the icares plastic screen protectors that have an oleophobic coating on them. I don’t like tempered glass myself. They’re too noticeable on the screen and I don’t need durability as much as I need scratch protection, I also don’t like how dust is attracted to them and gets stuck to the edges of them. But if you drop your phone a lot they do offer more protection.
