Hey there I am hoping some bright spark can can point me in the right direction here

So this morning (like most mornings) I transferred a bunch of movies I have on my Mac to my iPhone to watch on my morning commute to work.

A few points:

- Now these are actual movies I own and they have never been anywhere near the god forsaken icloud
- I transfer the movies to my phone and I can see them transferring, I check my phone storage and they are all on my phone.
- I go to watch my movies and I get some ****** message that Cellular Data is turned off for TV App
I check all the movies I transferred from my computer and they all have that download from the bloody cloud icon next to them.

Have I some how turned on a feature that when I go to put movies on my phone it sends them to the cloud? is this something else and most importantly how the hell do I get it to stop doing this ****.... immediately!

Commuting is hell

I’m sorry I can’t answer your question, but I can share how I do this. I use the VLC app and add movies via iTunes, it just works. I don’t use any form of cloud storage, everything is synced directly from my iMac.

How exactly did you transfer your movies?

They are all added to Itunes on my Mac
Then I plug in my iphone to my mac and add the movies to my phone through itunes.

Sorry, don't know what could go wrong with iTunes sync if you did it multiple times, but +1 for using VLC. It's much more straitforward imo and there is no risk that your files will be loaded to cloud suddenly.

Get as far away from iTunes as you can. Don't use it.

Have your .mp4 or .mov movies copied to a regular folder on your Mac.

Use an iOS app like FileBrowser to transfer the movies to your iPhone. It won't go to any cloud storage unless you put it there.

There is no way that movies get uploaded in the cloud automatically. There isn't even a option for this.

I don’t think they’re in the cloud. I think they’re tagged in the phone as not a local file. I get this periodically in the scenario you describe. If I sync again it’s fixed. Im moving away from iTunes syncing as much as possible due to this issue. It sucks not being able to access a local file on your phone.

Check in the downloaded section of the tv app to see if anything is downloaded locally.

Tv app-> library-> downloaded

Apple launched iTunes in the cloud a while back. All your past iTunes purchases are on your account in the cloud. Movies, tv show, music etc. You can access it from any iOS or Mac device.
