.mts avchd video files on dvd+r not playing on Sony BDP-N460, finalizing problem?

Here is my problem. I have a Sony HDR-SR8 camcorder with which I shoot family videos. In order to back up the files before I delete them from the hard drive, I transferred the individual .mts files onto Sony DVD+R blanks through my Mac. In the past, I checked to see if a blu-ray player would play these files as data DVDs and they did play on my brother's first generation playstation 3. So I thought I was good, until I recently got a blu ray player myself. I have a Sony BDP-N460. It is recognizing the discs but it does not recognize that there are video files on the discs. I think that the problem may be that the dvd's are not finalized, but my impression is that dvd+r do not need to be finalized or that they are automatically finalized. I cannot find much information on finalizing a disc on my mac. I'm operating a Mac OS X 10.5.8 2.8GHZ with 4GB SDRAM on an iMac. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
