Hi,

I've been using dotMac for almost two years and I would like to add a second email address to my account - one for me, that's already set up, and a second for my parents to use.

Is this possible?

Thanks, Andrew

:)

Hi Andrew,
Yes you can .. :)

If you go to Mail / Preferences / Accounts and click Edit email aliases.
Then click on the "Aliases" tab and "add new Alias".

When you sign up, you’ll have the options to upgrade your storage and purchase additional email accounts. If you sign up for a Basic Membership, you can upgrade to Family Pack at any time.

Certainly sounds like you can, it's been a long time since I dumped dotMac, but several years ago you could add additional mailboxes for a fee. I don't see why this should be any different now.

edit: took so long composing this that I got beat to it!

The aliases are great but they all feed back into the main account.

According to Apple's info, you can buy up to 10 separate email accounts

link (Question 3)

edit: so did I! I don't believe the aliases and separate accounts are the same thing though

Isnt an alias still the same email account?

Cant you can also purcahse a fully separate, additional account?

edit: wow you have to be quick to get in first!

Aliases are most definitely tied to an existing email account. They are not what the OP wants.

Why not just get your parents a GMail account?

Or buy a separate account from Apple. #4 ^^
Why buy from Apple when you can get it from Google for free?

IMHO: .Mac is a terrible value. I bought the family pack & regret wasting the money. I've gotten nothing useful out of it, and it's been down on occasion as well. I don't plan to renew this year.

You can buy email only accounts. I think they're something ridiculous like 10 dollars a year... but I could be wrong - has happened before:p
