Multiple External Monitors

Hi guys, I've looked around and have gotten a mix of answers so please help me.

How many external monitors can you connect to the new MBP 15'?

I would like the monitors be extended and not mirrors of each other.
Ideally I would like to have in total 3 screens, either 3 external or 2 external and the MBP screen.
