With Multitasking coming to iOS 4, I think it is assumed (at least by me) that music playing apps will continue playing when you go to switch to another app. I'm sure everyone has thought at one time or another how great it would be to be listening to Pandora while browsing the web, or reading emails, etc.

However, should we assume this is how it will work? I thought I saw in the iPhone 4 video yesterday where they were demonstrating multitasking, and when switching from one app to another, the app they were navigating from essentially paused itself, until the user came back to it. Is this the way multitasking works in general, or is this going to be strictly developer dependent?

Besides Pandora, there are other streaming audio apps that I like to listen to, and I really hope that this will behave like I'm hoping it to with multitasking, out of the box.

    Any thoughts? Thanks!!

Yes assuming the app updates to use the new functionality then yes that is how it would work.
