My biggest hope for WWDC 2020 is they renumber macOS 10.16 to macOS 14

Yep, I don't want much. Just a rebranding/renumbering that puts it at parity with iOS, tvOS, and iPadOS.

macOS 14, people.

skating to where the puck was (not too many people do this...for obvious reasons)
skating to where the puck is (also a game loser)
skating to where the puck will be is best!

need to wait 3 or 4 years for it to be "regularlized"through pr blurb and marketing strategy .
maybe macOS XX, iOS XX.

My biggest hope it selective folder sync in iCloud Drive. I want to backup more than just the Desktop and Documents!

Well if they change the numbering convention, the logical choice would be macOS 16 (instead of 10.16).

Calling it 14 would likely confuse some people (particularly newcomers) who might erroneously think Catalina 10.15 is newer than [unnamed] 14.

An ARM version of MacOS (rumoured for this year) would probably be the ideal opportunity to finally tick over to Mac OS 11 (versions 11.1, 11.2, 11.3 etc) but they didn't do that for the transition from PowerPC to x86 so who even knows! As above I don't think just jumping to 14 to arbitrarily match iOS is ultimately a good idea as it would just create unnecessary confusion.
