I have upgraded my iPod touch(2G) to V.3.0 for a while. I found that the bluetooth menu is appeared in the Settings>General page. It looks like Apple unlock this functionality into this upgraded version. I can discover my another devices normally but I can't pair with them even I tried to pair it with my MBP though .

Many thanks.

It is only able to pair with A2DP stereo headsets and even then with limited functionality of Pause\Play and volume control, Prev\Next and Bluetooth mic are not functional.

Is there any word that they may eventually unlock some more profile capabilities for the bluetooth chip, like mic function, or hands free profile so that I could wirelessly connect to my bluetooth car stereo?

Would this be a hardware issue, or a software issue that apple can eventually unlock?
