I'm thinking about getting a 13" tbMBP to upgrade from my current 2015 13" MBP. I've been using it with my Dell P2715Q monitor. I run it via mini display port @ 4K resolution and it works great. Some people have told me the new 13" tbMBP won't have the ability to run my monitor via mini display port. I was hoping there was some sort of an adaptor that goes from UBS-C to mDP but it isn't looking too good.

Can anyone comment on this?

I just found the cable below and according to one of the reviews, the tbMBP will run an external display port input monitor at 4K? This stuff is confusing...

Some people are 100% wrong.

I have the new 13 inch MacBook Pro and it works perfectly fine, at 60hz, using a cheap USB-C to display port cable I bought off Amazon with my Dell 4K screen. I have the p2415q, identical to yours except, 24 instead of 27 inches.

The only problems I have seen is from people who are trying to use the Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter as a Mini DP adapter. That won't work, but like psgifrin said, you can pick up a direct cable for cheap.

I'm thinking of buying a Dell P2415Q for my 15" tbMBP -- for those of you that have it, do you have any issues with the monitor not waking from sleep? I read this seemed to be a common problem in various reviews, but wasn't sure if it had gotten fixed over time... ? Thanks!

just get the right adapter everything will work.

i use this one without any issue on my 4k with 60hz looks like it is not available in the states, but anyway i am sure there are a lot more adapters in the us than here in germany.

Mine has been ROCK SOLID with a $20 USB-C to Display port cable from Amazon.

No issues with my 13" and P2415Q.

The biggest issue was quality control--I had to go through a few models before I got one without lines (!) on the screen. Doesn't seem to be a common issue, so I probably just got unlucky. But Dell support was fantastic. They send you a new one without having to first receive the old one.
