Do I have to charge my PowerBook once I receive it before using it? Or can I use it while it's charging up?

This would be for the first time out of the box.

Before you start using it, read the manual that came with it. Don't discard it. Follow what it tells you for conditioning the battery. If you don't you will get NO sympathy from me when you start b*tching about lack of battery life/time.

And once you read the manual - I agree with Alpha here - you might want to look into getting a second battery if you already don't have one. I've got a TiPB and I can tell you on several occassions now I have been caught needing that second battery.

Good luck.
