Hi All,

I am in the UK, when I use my Ebay account it thinks I am in the USA. When I select nearest first and attempt to change to GB and enter a post code it will not let me.

All my Ebay info is unchanged and correct. This problem started about 3 days ago.

On my Mac I have cleared cookies, checked the region I'm in, even used Time Machine to go back to the 17th August.

I created a test Ebay account and that account too thought I was in the USA.

I am unsure but I think I recently updated my OS. So any suggestions as to why Ebay thinks I'm not in the UK. My assumption is that my MacBook has a corrupt setting.

Thanks Stephen

That information from any web based application is from the IP address of the device. I am sometimes located by Apple as being half-way across the U.S. I suspect your ISP is reporting your IP address as being in a range that belongs in the U.S. If you are using VPN that is a very real possibility. If you are not using VPN, that is a problem with your ISP.

If, as you say, Ebay will not change your location, then Ebay needs to make some changes. You might be able to contact Ebay and have them relocate your location in your account.

i would try 6 things

1 use a different browser than the one you are using when you get this. see if that works. it could be a location/browser setting. i would also make sure that your language settings are English (GB) or whatever you want to set.

2 turn off iCloud Private Relay (if you have it on). even if you have it turned on, any setting should at least keep you within the country that it thinks yr IP address is located in, but in the past i had a terrible time with one site that wouldn't allow me to login when Hide My Location was turned on.

3 i would verify my IP address location by going to a web service that will tell you where it sees your IP location as.
if it is reports the UK then i have no idea why this is happening !

4 make sure you are actually trying to access Ebay UK. and not Ebay USA. i dont use Ebay, but some sites addresses look very alike.

5 think if someone else (who is actually signed into Ebay USA using your account) and get him/her to logout

6 and of course make sure the first thing you do is clear all yr cache and recent browsing history and cookies.

Hi, thanks for those suggestions. I tried them all with no improvement.

As a last resort I contacted Ebay, speaking with a person at Ebay is in its self an achievement.

Ebay did find a way around the issue but it was not possible to use the method I have used for years.

Fast forward a few days and Ebay now works as it should. My guess is that someone in IT has corrected the issue that affected me.
