So, here's my quick story. I ordered two SS watches with Milanese bands. One 38mm for my wife and one, 42mm for myself. A few days later a coworker tells me he tried the Milanese band at an Apple store and he hated it. He described it as feeling very uncomfortable and looking cheap. He told me I was going to hate my purchase.

I had the chance to visit a store last night and I tried one on. I was pretty impressed with both the comfort fit and the styling of the band. I was kind of worried the band would pull my wrist hairs but that wasn't an issue. This put all my buyer's remorse worries away and I can't wait until the 24th.

Here's a couple quick shots I took. The third is a comparison of the 38 and 42mm versions.

Yeah, sounds like the Milanese Loop tends to induce strong feelings in people. Some hate it after seeing it in person whereas others like it way more than they thought they would.

The Milanese Loop does not look cheap at all. It's in my stable of bands along with the Classic and the Link. I went with the 38mm.

Wow, everyone has said the complete opposite. The most unique and stylish band available without question. It will be the most iconic band that represents the :apple:watch (Hence its the once most commonly showcased in pics by Apple)

I too ordered the SS with Milanese loop and was hearing mixed reviews. In person that combo is the best in my opinion.

I think it looks very nice personally. That's why I ordered it with the 42mm SS Apple Watch. I was a little worried about the magnet, but saw a video where someone shook his wrist while using the Milanese loop and it looked sturdy.

I also bought the green sports band. I liked the way it looked on a reviewer the day the Apple Watch was announced.

I wish I ordered it with the Milanese loop. I ordered the SS 42mm with the black sports band and decided that I would wait until I could try on the bands at the store. Now the Milanese loop isn't available until June. My plan was to buy the link in October (birthday). But now I think that I'll just get the link band (available in May).I have some electronics lying around that need to be sold. I'll just have to cut spending to afford the link.

I have had two appointments and for the second one about an hour ago and i was admiring the milanese for the full 15 minutes.

It is beautiful, elegant and stylish. By far the best steel band one can buy IMO.

The sales lady also told me it is very popular and would make a nice dress watch.

I was on the fence on even getting one. But I made an appointment today and went. I must say I was going to get the sport, but after trying on the SS I was hooked. I don't care what anyone says, it looks great and is very fluid, esp the round knob, works very well. I was only going to get the rubber one. But I ordered the Milanese when I got home. It honestly looks and feels like a nice watch. Only prob is the June shipping date. Which in my opinion is pretty bad esp with all the hype.

I just tried on the Milanese myself. I liked the comfort, although it does make the watch look smaller compared to other bands ( I tried the link and leather loop also). Not sure if that one is for me.

I think Apple likes to put it in the pictures because it does look very good in those close up shots with all those tiny shiny links. Surprisingly I liked the link band, which I wasn't expecting. I'll have to see if I'm willing to fork over the extra cash for that one some day. Probably will get the leather loop for now.

I take it you got the 42mm, since the 38mm is still in the 4-6 week window. I ordered the classic band but have a separate order for the Milanese loop.

Because the link band is not unique in any way shape or form, if anything its a throw back to the 80's/90's. The Milanese loop is fresh, iconic.

That's your opinion/rationalization and is not necessarily indicative of what Apple considers the most iconic design that represents the :apple:Watch. In fact, we don't know and any suggestion would be purely conjecture.

The milanese is too feminine IMO. My wife saw it at my try on and said "That is a woman's band. It looks like jewelry."

So why out of all the variations is that shown in pride of place on the apple store?

Strange how a simple google image search of Milanese watch all show gents watches ;)

Strange how another search shows mostly women's watches with fine mesh bands like Apple's.

I said pride of place on the apple store, the image they choose when you actually want to buy the thing not just random images on their website.

Love how protective people get about their chosen bands lol

You seem to be the protective one here. I'm merely pointing out that it doesn't matter. They may have elected to show the Milanese Loop rather than the Link Bracelet next to the Rose Gray for the better contrast. Likewise for the Link Bracelet rather than the Milanese Loop next to the Bright Red.
