... on a Nationalist and "domestic terrorist" threatening to kill members of Congress and government.

It says a lot when not only is the guy part of the unofficial 5th branch of the US military, but the fact that he had been arrested and held for a week before Trump "allegedly" was briefed on the situation, let alone the Republican's deafening silence on the matter is absolutely astounding.

It says a lot even when the former RNC chair calls out the Reds on their silence regarding this.

And for Trump, whose comments Hasson truly believed, only called this "sad", and that his "very nice language" - that did inspire Cesar Sayoc to target the media and Democrats, didn't encourage Hasson into actions like this.

    The silence is deafening.

That terrorist is as much “his people” as the Democrat who shot the republicans at the baseball game.

BOTH interpreted the second to their liking.

Deflection noted. No reason for those in charge at the executive level to be silent on this or claim that they are just getting briefed on an incident like this 6 days after the arrest took place, yet is immediately taking to Twitter to whinge about Spike Lee's speech at the Oscars.

“Identified with his base”, now that is hilarious. Maybe he’s waiting for more info to come in with the recent Smollett debacle, we all seen how that turned out.

Really? If so, that's quite disturbing. As an aside, I thought the CG was widely considered the fifth of our armed forces...

Your man waited 6 days before even barely saying anything on it, and that was after being prompted about it by 3 different reporters while the cameras were rolling on him in the Oval Office. But Spike Lee talking about the upcoming election was a "racist attack" on him.

But again, deflection noted. And Again, we notice your entire side's silence on this, let alone yours. Nothing from McConnell. Nothing from Graham. Nothing from Sanders. Nothing from Barr. Nothing from anyone at Fox (Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham, etc.). Your side has acted like nothing from this has even occurred.

Oh, wait: Really fine people. My bad.

Not just widely considered. It's so by US Code. '

Courtesy of Wikipedia entry for US Coast Guard:

The five uniformed services that make up the U.S. Armed Forces are defined in Title 10 of the U.S. Code:

The term "armed forces" means the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.[24]
The Coast Guard is further defined by Title 14 of the United States Code:

The Coast Guard as established January 28, 1915, shall be a military service and a branch of the armed forces of the United States at all times. The Coast Guard shall be a service in the Department of Homeland Security, except when operating as a service in the Navy.[25]

He was arrested before he could do anything.

    What a big story!

Like I said before, let's use fort Hood as precedence and consider this attempted workplace violence.

It's worth noting that the only reason that the FBI caught Hasson is because of the guy's penchant for tramadol, which had shipped from a source in Mexico to his house and other locations via overnight delivery through UPS and FedEx. (He also bought morphine, Ritalin, and a bunch of other opiates.)

Without this sting, and reviews of his email, referred to in charging documents as TARGET-EMAIL-1, he could have carried out his plan, which was a complex domestic terror plot, that he mused could be aided by another country that he provoked somehow.

Along with his drug habit, Hasson also was stockpiling HGH, following the manifesto of Hans Breivik—the Norwegian far-right terrorist who set off a car bomb killing 8, and then went to an island summer camp where he murdered 69 children.

Hasson sent a letter to a white nationalist espousing his views, and went on a purchase spree, buying up weapons, parts and tactical gear, including a plate carrier.

And, Hasson had a list of 20 targets, including Joe Scarborough, Chris Hayes, Richard Blumenthal, Nancy Pelosi, Tim Kaine, Ari Melber, Chuck Schumer, Kirsten Gillenbrand, Elizabeth Warren, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Beto O'Rourke, and the group the Democratic Socialists of America.

And, Trump's administration decided to lead from behind on this one, apparently uninterested in how FBI agents stopped a domestic terror plot. And, it's clear why. Hasson doesn't fit neatly into the goals of the administration.

It's the same pattern again and again.

Condemnation from ALL SIDES of this guy. The media has reported on this. Those on the Left have blasted this guy, let alone most major media outlets.

Fox? They're leading with Sandmann, a NASA origins of life experiment, and tabloid dish on Bradley Cooper's ex girlfriend regarding his performance with Lady Gaga at the Oscars.

Breitbart? another alleged 2A gun grab plot by the left and Samuel L. Jackson. Again, if this were anyone left leaning, these outlets would be all over it like a bulldog on a pork chop. (side note: pork chops for dinner tonight.)

It doesn't matter which side you lie on. Threatening to kill those rightfully elected should draw condemnation on all sides regardless of political spectrum.

Very piss poor rationalization here. So it is unimportant until they go through with actually killing someone? That's sad. Very very sad.

This wasn't at work, so your precedence is misplaced. So if you want precedence, shouldn't you use someone such as Jared Loughner?

    DID Obama condemn Dorner? https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/christopher-dorner.2171361/
did those who supported Smollet condem him after they found out he staged his own attack?

To be honest I didn’t even see much on this from CNN and some of the more left leaning media outlets. I think the Jussie Smollett and NYC Amazon Deal took priority, which is a shame. I agree, the Trump administration had an inadequate response to this, but it obviously doesn’t fit their narrative of who’s the biggest threat to America.

Good thing this guy was only in the CG and didn’t have access to more powerful weapons.

Maybe its just me, but I don't remember any big stories about it in the regular media. I think I first found out about it here in the forums. Perhaps catching him before he had time to do anything?

Agreed, but it is concerning when a terrorist has not only formulated some degree of a plan, but has obtained an extensive amount of powerful weapons. Especially when that person is a member of the military, one with some stature too as a Lt. Especially when it’s targeted against noteworthy politicians.

If I recall correctly this was all largely overshadowed by the reprehensible story of Jussie Smollet by both sides of the media.
