When was the last time someone said in today's time:
I Love running my Windows 98 PC...

Hopefully never!

My wife ran her 4S on iOS 5.1 until a few months ago, then decided to take the iOS 7 plunge. The difference in speed was night and day, but it ran well and has intentions on riding it till it dies.

In my Android days, every time a Android update goes out, it would make the phone run like crap. I had it so bad where during a phone call, the android phone rebooted itself. (Droid Eris (2 Replacements) >Droid 2(3 replacements).

The article only tends to throw out the statement that newer is better. Running newer OS on older hardware makes it slower..:

With iOS, I have never run into that problem, so I would say that the writer of the article forgot this perspective:

  1. Apple's ability to not have fragmentation on its device offering allows the ability to give out a stellar iOS experience.
  2. Like a Honda, the Apple iPhone has always maintained a high resale value.
  3. iOS have frequent updates unlike Android where 3rd party manufactures need to Q/A on the multiple smartphone models
