iPod NEED HELP!!!! PLZ!!! (folder with exclamation mark)

This might be a noobish question, but anyways. Here it is:

Why when I start my Ipod the apple shows then a folder with a exclamation mark comes out and it repeats?

Plz need help

I think it's either a bad harddrive or it needs to be reformatted... I know it's one of the first things you will get answer to if you goto the Apple iPod Support page tho...
