1) Wait for apple to sell it factory unlocked. My guess is that will start happening later this month or early next.

2) Buy a Verizon Iphone 5. You can reserve for in-store pickup and then tell the apple employee you want it at full price as "device only." Some have said this works and some have said it does not. If it fails, then just pay verizon for one month of service and then cancel and pay your ETF. With the subsidized price of $199, plus the ETF of $350, plus about $100 in fees for the first month, you'll be very close to the full price of $649.

Try buying / reserving an iP5 Verizon tonight at 10:00 pm est and/or 10:00 pst at apple.com for store pick-up. If you are successful (good luck), when picking it up cancel it then purchase it for full price.

That's what I did. It definitely works & allowed.

Or if you have time or live near an Apple Store - call ahead to check or go there before store opening, as it is possible they get extra few stocks for walk-ins (like what Apple guy told me in Florida Mall).

Yeah, stocks are really scarce and who knows, which stores will received some and when. You can only hope for the best now by trying those options or wait for the next big shipment (hopefully sooner than _____, dunno what's officially announced).

Actually just spoke to a specialist from my local apple retailer, and they said they stock up every single morning its just that people wait outside for the store to open and like that you can buy the iphone device only for that carrier. Hm what do you think are the odds of me getting at 10 online?

Very tough and you need all the luck to reserve one online. But it pays off if you succeed. Can be frustrating but don't stress or spend too much time on it. Just have your credit card or whatever funds ready (plus drivers license / ssn info) ... login (on a fast internet) at 10 est if you live in the east coast. Hope for the best that an Apple Store close to you (or within reasonable driving distance) has the one you need. It's up to you how far you can drive - Apple will hold it for up to 7 days. If you are flexible with the color or model or driving distance, the better.

I got what I need but I have to drive a little bit, not too bad as I've never been to that store/area. It is in a cool location. And it was a pleasant experience to me.
