Lock button isn't working well.

Do I need to make an appointment or can I just walk into an apple store and ask to get it fix?

You need to make an appointment. The Geniuses are to busy to accept anyone walking up.

Yeah an appointment is your best option. If not you will have to wait a long time depending on how popular your apple store is (most of them are popular lol).

If you just walk in, they put you in a "Standby Queue", which means you'll likely be sitting around until someone with an appointment scheduled doesn't show up.

At the store I worked at, people were often in Standby for hours.

You can make a Genius Bar reservation online:

I'd highly recommend you do that vs. just walking in.
