I've been on the $7.99 plan of Netflix for years now... I was expecting it to move me to the $9.99 this year and I was going to jump to the $11.99 4K plan since I just got a 4K tv. I went to my iTunes billing and I'm still on $7.99 as of my next bill on 7/13 and I have no option to jump to 4K plan.

I did find that I need to cancel my plan and then start a new one to get the 4K option. But I'm going to hang onto the $7.99 plan til they kick me off.

Anyone know any details on when they're going to kick me off?

Have you checked your Netflix account? You should see under "Plan details" how long your price guarantee will last. I'm on the $8.99 price, but that will last until October.

Yeah its says to go through my iTunes to make any changes and that is it.

Maybe if done through Apple it doesn't give you the 4K option because ATV doesn't support 4K. Only thing I can think of that would make sense.

I think I CAN get it. But I need to cancel my account via iTunes and then sign up again and the option will appear. But if it's a case of sticking with the legacy $7.99 plan or getting 4K for nearly double the price I guess I'll hang onto it until they throw me off.

Was just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or knows what is going on... meanwhile... as the phrase goes... don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Hm, OK. I'm not paying through iTunes, that's probably why it looks different for me. Maybe you're lucky and they can't increase the price for iTunes customers. ;)

I was thinking that maybe there was no way for them to kick iTunes users off currently. I know my buddy did the WWE Network via iTunes and after something F-ed up he was sent an email message saying his subscription was cancelled but he still had service for a full year afterwards. He had paid for the first year or 6 months previously, whatever they had originally before they went monthly.

I'm in the same boat with the grandfathered $7.99 plan through iTunes billing. I set it up back when it was a new feature for the ATV3. My guess is that Apple and Netflix will eventually figure this out, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get grandfathered in longer than customers who bill directly through Netflix.

I've got the same thing going on with my Netflix account in UK. I'm still being charged £5.99 via iTunes.

I have Netflix but I am paying $8.99 for HD and am paying Netflix directly. How do you go about paying Netflix threw iTunes. I would like to give it a try and see if I can get it for $7.99.

I got an email a few weeks ago telling me my grandfather 799 HD streaming package would end after June 27, 2016 so when it renews July 27 it will be $9.99 the next jump up is $11.99 for ultra HD which I assume is 4K

The standard naming protocol seems to be as follows:

HD: 720p
Full HD: 1080p
Ultra HD: 2160p (commonly referred to as 4K)

You can't sign up for the old pricing, but if you want to start billing through iTunes you'll need to cancel your account on Netflix.com then sign back up using an in-app purchase on your Apple TV.

If you change to 4k after the billing date, you will get a full month of it for the 9.99 price until the next billing. Its pretty reasonable on Netflix's part. Also the 4k plan allows 4 simultaneous streams ( only 2 in HD plan)

4 screen plan only offers Ultra HD and there is no mention of increasing older plan.... That's what i see.

Not convenient... since u'r loose all your 'My List" ... Hulu doesn't even offer to to switch back and forth between iTunes billing and Hulu website..... buy I wish they all would do this...

I did this with both Netflix and Hulu and didn't lose either queue. The key is using the same email address so they know which account to reactivate.

When I switched to the $12 4k plan, I had to cancel my subscription in iTunes, wait for the month to run out, then I resubscribed on Netflix's website for the new plan. It will still save all of your watch history, favorites, etc.

Is there a benefit going thru iTunes? I just go thru Netflix.

Even though I have a 4K TV I'm going to wait until there is an AppleTV with 4K support. I don't particularly care for the Samsungs interface via the TV.

The benefit of iTunes billing is that you can find iTunes gift cards at a discount. So effectively you are paying less.

Do you have another device (other than the ATV 4) to play the Neflix stream at 4K? If not, don't bother... of course the TV might have the App, I suppose, as most current 4Ks seem to be "Smart" TVs.
My LG TV runs WebOS and a 4K version of Netflix.

It's too late now. If you sign up now through Netflix you'll get the current plans. Which is why it's telling me to cancel my account and then restart.

I buy discounted iTunes cards. Just bought one for 20% off last week and Netflix is the only thing I really pay for. So essentially I'm getting 20% off of my Netflix.
