All iPads Never done this before can I get iMessage and normal text messages on a WiFi only iPad?

I am thinking only iMessage from only other iOS devices but wanted to make sure.

Yes. I get them all the time on my Mac mini and my iPad.

Edit: Oh wait.....does it work with non-iOS devices? I'm not sure now.

Edit #2: Yes. Just checked my iPad and I have conversations there with Android users.

Yes just make sure message forwarding is turned on.

You can only get sms messages sent to your non-cellular iPad if you have an iPhone signed into the same Apple ID. In phone settings, ensure Text Message Forwarding has your iPad listed and enabled.
