Hi,

I purchased a new 2019 13 inch Macbook Pro from Best Buy.
Specifically because I wanted to stay on Mojave as as use my IMac
as a screen which you can't do with the 2020 model.

This is the model - MV982LL/A
Apple MacBook Pro 13-Inch "Core i7" 2.8, 16gb Ram and 1TB hard drive.

I did check the system info and the battery has a cycle count of 4.

I can't recall if when I first powered it on there was a battery issue as I used it with the charger
but I noticed it was loaded with 10.14.4. and I wanted to update it to 10.14.6.
I updated it by manually downloading the combo updater.

At some point, I turn on show percentage and see 0% on the battery and not charging.

Energy saver, says "replace now"

I've tried an SMC reset, no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks

Options:
- take it back while it's still in the return period.
or
- If you have a brick-n-mortar Apple Store anywhere nearby, make an appt and take it to the genius bar. Perhaps they can get it working.

My opinion only:
I'd take it back and get the 2020 model.
The 2019 has the "butterfly" keyboard which is VERY prone to failure.
The 2020 has the new "scissors" keyboard -- similar to the keyboards used 2015 and earlier, which doesn't fail.

Looks like a dead battery. Take it to Apple or AASP to get it repaired under warranty.
