iPod New 30GB and 80GB listed but no 60GB model?!?

The apple store only shows the 30GB model and 60GB model for $249 and $349.

Any ideas, just a mistake by iLounge? Or did apple mess up on their site, I doubt that.

80gb is HUGE!! I only have 17gb on my 3G 40gb. I'm holding out for the real video iPod.

If and when I upgrade (I really want to but I will hold off as long as my 40gb 4th gen can last) I will buy from amazon to avoid sales tax. Effectively getting the iPod for the same price I would have gotten it with the student discount.

I think he is referring to the full widescreen iPod that has been rumored. I purchased my G5 video iPod the day it was announced but was a little dissapointed when I found out it was a small 4:3 screen. I was hoping for the same size iPod but with a full widescreen display on one side, and the familiar click-wheel with small non-color (old gen ipod) screen for navigation on the other side. It is rumored that the new full-screen ipod will have a touch sensitive face with "pop-up" type navigation controls but this is all just speculation.


Dang, no edu. discount, your right. I guess they did drop $50 off but it would be nice to get edu. price at like $229 and $329 or something.
I only have 20gigs used up on my 60GB G5 video iPod right now, but perhaps I will buy the 80GB unit and sell my small 2.5" external 120GB Hard drive and use the extra space on the iPod for data storage or something.

You would think that. But if you look for the "iTunes Library Count" thread (or whatever its named) people's library's are INSANE. A couple exceed 300GB . I've already exceeded 40GB on my iPod and hopefully a 120GB comes out for me to stick my favorite tv shows and movies on it. Exceeding 80 is pretty easy. Trust me, it's do-able without movies.

that is a an idea, but is there any chance we're getting back the Firewire support? I would love to have OSX installed into my iPod and load it up on another mac.

I've got about 250gb of videos (movies and tv shows from my dvds) and i can easily fill all 80gbs that's why I bought one. It can now handle the h.264 640x480 that I encoded them in.

I had a 4gb nano that I'm selling to someone and I have a 4G 40gb. This was just what I needed to make the upgrade worth it. We waited a year for this 5.5G update...I'm thinking it's going to be a while for the 6G, but then again, Apple loves to update stuff.

Why not? Got about 50gb of music on my current iPod... every tune legit and ripped from CD... there's a new stack of about 20 new and unripped CDs sitting next to my keyboard to go on there as well.
