I really hope someone could help me with this.

The previous version of the Apple 4K unfortunately does not play back the videos that I recorded in Dolby Vision (using iPhone 12 Pro), when you use the built-in "Photos" app or in any other way. It does not trigger Dolby Vision / HDR / HLG signal to the TV, instead plays everything in standard dynamic range.

Does anyone know if the new Apple TV 4K is able to play back these videos properly in Dolby Vision / HDR format via the "Photos" app or using AirPlay? If anyone could feedback/confirm, I would truly appreciate it as I will buy the new Apple TV 4K right away, in case it is able to achieve this.

As a side note; Switching Apple TV video format to "Dolby Vision" is not the solution as it converts everything to DV and honestly to me, this is wrong. Mine is set to 4K SDR and the "Match Content" setting is on for "Dynamic Range". This way, Apple TV switches to Dolby Vision or HDR, when the content supports it. For instance, it switches to DV when watching Netflix. However, this does not work with the videos that are in iCloud in "Photos" app.

The problem is in your settings. It works with match content items off, 4K format DV, at least according to the Developer HUD on the latest ATV 4K:

I disagree with you. Setting the format to DV and turning off match content basically converts all standard range dynamic content into DV and that’s what you are seeing there. Source is identified in standard range and that’s the issue…
