"The new Apple TV and HomePod mini will apparently "help showcase the new Siri and Apple Intelligence features planned for next year.""

But what happens if Apple fails again to release the new Siri or it gets delayed until the end of next year. Why would I buy another device with promises of major features that are not ready. I was burned with the iPhone 16 Pro. Fool me once Apple is all you are getting. Completely my fault but I will never buy another Apple device on a promise of a major feature.

Cannot agree more with you. I bought an iPhone 16 Pro Max based on promised features and was fooled too. I’m not interested in getting burned again…

If the new Apple TV is to get the A17pro chip has rumoured, the Apple need to allow better games otherwise it’s overkill. The original Apple TV 4K from 2017 is still very capable of running all the latest streaming apps. So why install a A17pro if it’s not for gaming..

It's not that they won't allow better games but rather there is no motivation for game Devs to port better games. You see Apple get caught between a rock and a hard place, they make a device that has the spec to run better games but that plus apple tax make it very expensive for a streaming box. That limits sales and low user base means there isn't the market to justify porting the game to work on the AppleTV so gamers who the device would be cheap compared to other options aren't buying it. So what we get is iPhone games as iPhones have the user base to make games profitable but iPhone games are generally more casual games

It’s not really worth launching anything new home related until they can sort out the mess that is Siri.

I guess a processor bump to tv will be good, but getting the entry level version as cheap as possible - considering the competition - would be even better.

But will the new ATV support AuraCast?

Or any of their existing products, which support BT 5.2 or greater.

no ATV HW update makes sense until they refine/remove tvOS limitations for app storage etc.
a native way of connecting to a NAS would also be fine

after that is done, just give it a USB-C port or two (to plug in drives, webcams etc.)
and bring back active cooling

and make it a brain for all the HomePods ... like I can prompt my HomePod mini in bedroom ... and the living room ATV can process it locally ... no need for a new mini basically

I am missing a midnight and orange colored mini... so at least I'll have a chance to get those in some clearance or people selling for a new one

That's exactly what they need. As I've said above right now the current one is way too over powered for a streaming box, the spec is there for their constant 'This is also a console' pitch but there isn't enough users to get devs and publishers of big games to want to go through the hassle of porting (It's also part of the reason why in the UK the BBC has done the bare minimum that they are required to do when it comes to the iPlayer app. Things like 4K/HDR which due to Apple choosing to not Support DASH in their HLG implementation which would hence require the BBC to implement a different 4K/HDR implementation than all other devices for the AppleTV which just isn't worth it)

Get something under 100, ideally as close to 50 as possible and it would probably still be overpowered. The HD version has more power than the original Switch, if the original Switch can run games the level it could then it certainly can. Bump the processor up to even the 1st or 2nd generation 4K which would should be much cheaper and you have an overpowered streaming box and a decent enough console at a great price that might sell enough to persuade devs/publishers to port better games. And a better priced one absolutely would bring people in, if it was priced in the 50-100 range its at a point where the interface and power would be enough to get many of those who right now buy the sub 50 streaming devices to pay a bit more where as asking them to go from buying sub 50 devices to 150+ devices and it puts people off unless they are deep in the Apple eco system or they only have a single TV to buy a streaming device for

Yes Apple is suppose to have things ready for something on November 12, but if it's new products they would need to be announced today or tomorrow (Monday or Tuesday). I would think the store makeovers that are being reported have something to do with the 50th anniversary of Apple, which is less than 6 months away. They may be planning stuff leading up to that date.

Having read up about it the tech sounds great but it seems pretty niche for a home device, seems more aimed for places like gyms and sports bars and how many of them are using AppleTV's to run their systems?

And especially when they really only seem to care about apple headphones, having to go into settings to connect my Sony headphone when I want to use headphones every time and then back in to disconnect them when I'm done is so annoying where as it seems from videos I've seen its much easier to connect and disconnect AirPods and the likes. It should be something that you can do from the quick menu, maybe from the audio switch section but its not

A new Apple TV and HomePod mini could launch as soon as this month, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman today suggested.

HomePod-mini-and-Apple-TV.jpg

In today's "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said that Apple retail stores are planning an overnight refresh on the evening of November 11, where changes will be made after closing, such as refreshing displays and placing new products for the following day.

The timing of the overnight refresh could simply be related to the holiday season, but there is a possibility that it relates to the launch of new Apple TV and HomePod mini models. Gurman notes that inventory of current models has become tight, likely signaling that new versions are on the way. He added that even if they do not launch by the end of 2025, they "shouldn't be far off."

The new Apple TV and HomePod mini will apparently "help showcase the new Siri and Apple Intelligence features planned for next year." During its earnings call earlier this week, Apple seemingly suggested that any more new Macs are off the table for the rest of 2026, making the new Apple TV and HomePod mini the most likely candidates for any remaining Apple product releases this year.

Should be 2025.

My Apple TV 4K 2nd gen just got stuck in a boot loop.

I tried doing the remote trick and it didn’t work. It’s now looking bricked.

I’ve been waiting and waiting for this “new” model to replace.

It’s now getting frustrating because I don’t want to buy a Apple TV that is 3 years old.

I'm not sure much of a store make over is needed to replace the old Apple TV black box with the new Apple TV black box.

I’ll continue to say buy now and enjoy now. It will do everything that you need it to.

If the latest AppleTV remote does not come with built in Find My support on par with an air tag, it confirms what most people are thinking about Apple these days. They've lost their ability to innovate and make the customer experience pleasant and instead rehash the same old ideas and or push additional products as solutions that should work by default (ie I'm not buying a damn air tag to track my remote). The BS hotter hotter hotter, colder colder colder method using an iPhone to search for the remote is just sad.

As another example, they push great cameras on the phones, and service plans for storage, music etc. Why does the photos app in Apple TV feel like an afterthought. The TV is the single best screen to sit back and browse photos and watch home movies, yet all it can to is show existing albums and you need to scroll forever chronologically to find anything (we have close to 20 years of photos).

Apple of many years back would not have had these shortcomings I don't believe, they've simply lost their way. Stop putting resources and time into failed projects like iPhone Air (is there a SINGLE person that thinks their existing phone is simply too think and loosing a couple millimeters is worth the extra cost of hardware for less specs? Same with the VR stuff, almost no one is asking for (or buying) this.

The next gen Apple TV unit will be my first one, why do I want to see it?

1. WIFI 7 I live in a congested neighborhood, 2.4 is pretty much unusable now along with 5ghz non DFS channels, 6ghz WIFI 7 with the best features for that 6gz radio channel.

2. Dolby Vision 2.0, coming quickly waiting to upgrade the 11 year old Samsung 3D TV to a OLED or new QD OLED TV technology next year after the consumer electronics show.

3. Matter home control with AI Siri support, think is going to revolutionize streaming boxes.

4. Blutooth 6.0 better Audio lower latency for headphones and other features in 6.0

I agree with all these frustrations.
What you're seeing here is the result of the change to Apple that Tim has engineered.

The "Services revenue" push, by its very nature, de-prioritizes all the niceties, fit and finish and thoughtfulness anywhere in the products (hardware or software) where they come into conflict with just pure, raw, "making more money".

It shouldn't have to be this way, but it ends up that way without someone in Tim's position actively passing on taking every single tiny little chance to squeeze out more "number go up".

It requires a longer term view that I thought at one point Tim had, but he's now shown himself to not care enough about (if at all).
