hi, I upgraded my iPHONE SE software to iOS 11, everything seems just fine BUT, in the new files app I am not able to save any file ON THE DEVICE, it will just let me manage files from the iCloud Drive, IS THIS NORMAL or a glitch?

    Thanks in advance

Normal. If you want to save on local storage, you need an app that makes a sandbox in the “on my phone” section.
A couple of examples: izip, pixelmator.
An alternative solution for local storage is to use an app that features a Local Files provider. For example Documents from Readdle.
Let me be clear: I think this approach is non intuitive and confusing and, therefore, stupid. But...that’s what we have, and it’s only my opinion. Anyway once you know it, you can make it work.

What he said, but you can also just install Keynote, Pages, and Numbers. Once you do, folders of those apps will appear when you try to save a file on your phone. If Files can open that file type, it will. Otherwise, it'll open it in those other apps.

You can save almost any file types into them, even if none of those can open it. I've dropped Illustrator and Large Format Photoshop files into those folders.

There's a lot of pros to Files the most people don't realize yet. Take your example (once you get it working,) you can save images from Safari directly into a third party app, so you can store it locally; instead of saving to photos, then transfer it later.

Awesome! Thanks so much for your help! Already installed the DOCUMENTS from readle and it’s working fine, but I need the keynote also so I’ll give I a try!
