Well I am glad I don't live in California!!!

So without breaking a single law you can have your Rights stripped from you for a year just because someone "thinks" or flat out lies to the police. This isn't just a 2nd amendment issue it is also a 4th amendment issue. Why? Because after they get the green light they also get the go-ahead to tear your house, car or any property you occupy apart under the legal guise of looking for firearms.

What was that I keep hearing, "No one is trying to take your guns away"?!?!?

"convicted of"? Doesn't that imply some sort of trial? This is even better!

Surely if you confiscate the gun from the accused person wouldn't that worsen the situation, if mentally unbalanced couldn't this tip them over the edge?

    From the law ...
So you need a cop's assertion and a judge's finding that there's a reasonable cause to believe someone poses an immediate or present danger to themselves or others. The result of this oversight is a temporary emergency restraining order.

I'd ask who could possibly be against such a common sense measure ... but I know the answer to that already.

Gun nuts. Not gun advocates ... gun nuts.

An update to motor voter will also go into affect. Anyone getting a driver license will automatically be registered to vote. It's up the the registrars offices to verify eligibility to vote once the information is received. Should go swimmingly for California. Especially now that illegals can get driver licenses. Nice knowing ya!

I know, so "convicted of" is the wrong term. More like "summarily judged" or maybe "guilty until proven guilty, or not, in that case you still are guilty"

liberal nuts railed against the Patriot Act but were ok with Obama passing indefinite detention w/o trial, Liberal nuts are constantly complaining about Police abuse, unless of course the potential for abuse suits their agenda.....

That law enforcement will take your guns and never give them back to you.

Did you actually read the proposed law or just your propaganda article?

That's why I linked to and quoted the law itself.

If you rely on gun nuts to accurately describe reasonable law, they simply cannot manage it.

This is just as wrong as, say, cops getting a call that a kid is brandishing a weapon and just rolling up on the kid and shooting him.
