Everyone on twitter is going ape **** thinking the new iPhone will be priced at a whopping $800. That's insane... Apple would never do that because they would lose so much business.

Like the original iPad was supposed to be $1000

New iPhones will be the price of current iPhones.

As it was before, so it shall be now. ;)

Apple offers three capacities ranging from $199 - $399 (on-contract) and $649 - $849 (unlocked), which model are you referring to? I think the prices will remain same as the existing ones.

Seeing as how the current phone costs $650, $750, and $850 I don't see what people are shocked about. So something leaked somewhere? For all we know that means all 3 prices will drop by $50 and only the highest one leaked.

It's kind of hard for him to link to thousands of twitter posts. Apparently others are writing about it, but you're not going to get a direct source here unless you just search through Twitter.

EDIT: Ok, here you go. I guess you can link to thousands of Twitter posts. Have at it.

    There in lies the problem.

With no originating source it's basically a circle jerk of Twitter replies. Pass

What I find incredible there is that people truly don't understand the actual price of a non-subsidized smartphone.

Well, yes, the OP made a post about how people on Twitter made up a rumor.

So a list of made-up things on Twitter IS the source, strangely enough.

OMG. People don't understand anything these days. Working retail, with mail-in-rebates, is MURDER. you'd think no one had a cell phone...

I have some family members who own iPhones and don't know how much they cost. its crazy. Had my uncle tell me replacing his phone was going to cost $1,100 WITH a contract renewal.

I'd be pretty happy since the current 64g 4s is $850...I'd save myself a fifty:rolleyes:

Have people forgotten that the first iPhone was released at $500 and $600 with no subsidized pricing available?

no way will it cost $1000, but no way will I ever buy a phone and extend contract again. If I get another iPhone will be direct from apple.

I too have seen the twitter shenanigans.

This happens every iDevice launch. Apple is the angel and the devil all in one nice little package.

Everyone on twitter is so stupid for believing this. It's so far fetched. It's got 2 trends worldwide and has all morning.

I think part of the problem is that the people complaining don't understand contract pricing. They think everyone is going to have to pay $800 not realizing the contract prices will stay the same as always.

I doubt Samsung has to worry about it, since Apple is very angry with them :)
