iPhone New iPhone...seeing ads! 🤦‍♂️

Hello there

i just got a new iPhone. Sadly I’m seeing ads in Google now:

On my 6S it was never the case. I use Weblock as an adblocker. I entered https://googleads.com/* in the filter list but I can still see ads. What would be the proper way to block this ad?
 
Use a good proper content blocker like Adguard, and this won't happen.. and thats a odd way of filtering i never seen before.. better would be *.doubleclick.net or if you use Adguard pro or any that function like it, then just "doubleclick.net", will automatically apply the wildcard unless overridden manually.

Well to be fair, you have typed a question about headphones into google and it's showing you headphones.
That's pretty much what it's designed to do.
If you don't want sales offers you might add the word 'review' or 'advice' and that might help.
You could try Duckduckgo as a search engine too as well as an ad blocker.
 
I have to agree with the others. First your phone has nothing to do with any ads you see. Second, out of curiosity I duplicated your search for headphones and see no ads on my devices. I use 1Blocker X on my phone and iPad Pro and Wipr on my mac and highly recommend both although if I had to start over I’d probably just choose Wipr, it’s very simple to use with no settings to fiddle with, however it does not offer a way to whitelist a site, that has to be done through the native Safari option but is easy to do.

Change your default search engine to duck duck go. Google is all about monetizing and aggregating your data. Why would you trust them?

What in the heck does the phone (new, old, or brand) have to do with what you searched on Google? 🤷‍♂️ Let me guess it's Apple's fault you are seeing adds on Google :rolleyes:

Technically Apple is somewhat responsible as they are the one that sets google as the default search engine on their devices. But Google pays Apple for that ability which in turn results and what the poster is talking about.
 
I’m just saying new phone because on my 6S I never had these ads. I’ll give a try to Adguard & 1X blockers. I have others on my iCloud account.

I had no idea they were bought out. I hate sellouts, I might just switch back to DDG, they have more sources than I realized anyway. Thank you for the info.
