    If they only use it for an accident where the at-fault driver caused injuries, a search warrant is signed by a judge, and it only will issue a yes/no response to usage then this might fly. Anything beyond that might have some 4th Amendment issues.

    Edit: and if there is some suspicion about cell phone distraction being a cause

    What a neat PR trick to convince people the NYPD needs a way to "check" your usage...aka actually copy your data as they've been doing for years. :rolleyes:

    Someone will come up with an app to defeat it or clear whatever they're logging. I had a Subaru that was water and methanol injected and had every catalytic converter removed. Pulled up to the emissions testing center, hooked my laptop to the car, cleared every MIL code stored and installed my basic tune and passed the emissions test with flying colors. Pulled out and reprogrammed the car (in the emissions testing center exit driveway) back to the more aggressive tune that pollutes like a MF'er.

    Don't own the car anymore. My wife hated it because it scared her and she thought it was too loud. lol

    Totally agree. There plenty of things to charge a driver for bc they were distracted. Wreckless operation. No the solution is more laws. o_O
