Are there any changes to the Apple news app and iOS 11? I find this app very difficult to use in iOS 10. Why do I have to keep pressing the back arrow to get to the homepage? I only recently realized that I could 3D Touch the icon to go to the homepage/for you section, but this is a terrible way to do it. Are there any helpful UI changes or have I missed something?

based in austria, i have installed the public beta a few days ago, with the new apps running well.
now today, suddenly the news app icon disappeared, although the app is still availabe in the widget listing and under settings>notification. Anybody had similar experience? Any advice much appreciated.

There are some UI differences in the news app (bolder font, which seems to be a theme in iOS 11). But no significant changes from what I see thus far.

I only have iOS 11 on iPad so far. On the iPhone are there any changes to the menu when you 3D press the News app icon on the springboard? How about the News app's widget, any changes?

I’ve found that they mainly added more stuff you need to turn off to see the content you want.
In iOS 10 I was following (I’m in the UK) BBC, Top Stories, 9to5mac, The Verge and Polygon. After updating to iOS 11 I was greeted with Celebrity News, Windows PC news, beauty/fashion news... I had to scroll down through 4 to 5 sections just to find today’s real world actual news.
I had to turn off “Find content in other apps” and turn on “Restrict stories in For you” and I’m still met with a large section at the top of the screen suggesting I personalise News by adding more stuff.

I think it got worse in iOS 11. I used to use the “Following” tab extensively, and the tiles would rearrange based on which ones I used the most. For some reason Apple has decided it should now be an alphabetical list in MASSIVE FONT so if I want to read The Verge, for example, I have to scroll for 5 minutes

Actually the news widget is missing on the PB I have installed on my 7. I reported it as a bug (unless they’re holding out in a later beta).

The biggest change I'd like to see on the Apple News app is for Apple themselves to contact the news outlets.

More and more of them it seems are only showing partial articles within the app meaning that you have to then exit to their website to see the content.

Quite often the app does not render the website content well, so I then find myself using Safari reader far too regularly.

Apple surely can't be happy with this experience as they would want you to stay within the app.
