The Minnesota Vikings star will avoid a jail sentence after reaching a plea agreement with a court in Texas.

Peterson was indicted in September on a felony charge of injury to a child for using a wooden switch to discipline his 4-year-old son.

Peterson reportedly never intended to harm his son and his defence attorney Rusty Hardin earlier described his client as a "loving father" but ended up causing cuts and bruises to the boy's back, buttocks, legs and scrotum/testicles.

He could have been sent to prison for 2 years but instead had to pay a $4,000 fine.

Phew! he must be relived with that.

If you're rich and famous, you can get away with pretty much anything. Being a professional athlete is a bonus.

A $4000 fine? Honestly that's an insult to justice. They may as well have just dropped the charges, it would be less insulting to this child's dignity.

Hopefully this causes some discussions and things like this won't be tradition in the south anymore.

They won't sign him again anyways. Contract's just about up. I'm almost positive he'll be a Cowboy the next time you see him on the field.

Doesn't matter. He doesn't want to play there.

Speaking of the Dallas Cowboys...I understand they are not allowed to huddle during games this year. Apparently felons aren't allowed to associate that closely together.

That made laugh out loud, literally. Jerry likes to have a good mixture of hotheads and pansies, respectively, so that you can't just write off the whole team. That way, the simple-minded Texan fans keep filling the seats.;)

Remind me, who on their team has been convicted of a felony?

Josh Brent isn't playing. I don't believe Joseph Randle's incident was a felony.

    So.....?
