Can’t believe they are dropping it. I buy Black finished one every year since AW4. Love finish so much more than SS. I beat the crap out of mine wearing at work unloading trucks and never ever got a mark on one. I had a SS black before they went to graphite also was mark free both from the excellent finish and better crystal glass.

Apple has the numbers and I suspect that’s all this is a numbers move trying to get some of these buyers to new Pro one but 45mm is max for my wrists so I’m forced into SS.

I usually sell mine around now each year and get $500-$550 also transferring the balance of 3 year AC+ to new owner. This year nope I’ll hold off as I’m hoping Apple brings it back. If not I guess it’s back to a noticeably heavier watch 😩.

I am in the same boat you are and always get the black Ti Edition.

let’s wait and see what is really happening in September. If I have to buy the rugged version to get my black Ti, so be it.

yep I am going to wait and see but no rugged for me if its as large as they are claiming.
good luck

I would also like titanium or steel strong for work - I work a lot with my hands and repair mechanisms. But alas, they are not sold at all in our country. Only aluminum.

Ti was best for swimmers, too... the aluminum one gets scratched to hell the first time you brush the lane line or side of the pool. The steel is kinda heavy... and more corrosive. Ti was lightweight and elegant. I also have a small farm, so wanted something more durable.

I really hope the new 'Pro' or whatever is not huge. I do not want a huge watch... I don't want to look like a triathlon dork with a massive wrist computer (it's good natured... y'all know who you are... 😄).

I'll be sad if they drop the Titanium in 45mm from the lineup. This was going to be the year I upgraded from Al to Ti and something I've been looking forward to! Wouldn't want anything larger than 45mm. My wrist could probably support slightly larger, but it'd be borderline 🤡⌚

One normally gets accustomed to the slightly heavier SS Watch very quickly. Unless you continue to alternate with a lighter version (e.g. for sleep tracking), you won’t really notice the additional weight anymore after a few days in.

its not just the weight as I've had SS series 4... I don't care for the hi shine either. But yes if forced I'm sure I'll get used to it.

My 45mm natural titanium gets scratched super easy.
Well I can assure you the black coated one does not as I unload trucks and it gets a beating and every year I've sold it with not a mark on it. That said my SS black series 4 also did not get marked up the coating is quite tough in my experience.
I'm guessing maybe the clear coating on the natural ti isn't as robust? I recall they marketed the black coating on both SS and Ti as being a scratch resistant type finish.

agree 100%

The diamond-like coating on the Ti and old stainless steel models is really tough. I used my space black Apple Watch for 3 years and I didn't see a single scratch on it. It sucks that Apple aren't making their current steel watches in space black anymore. I think they should sell the pro iPhones in space black as well.

Many people haven’t learned that Watch rumors are some of the most inaccurate drivel. Just wait and see! And if they rebrand the edition as “pro” you can still buy what you want, you just have to pay a lot more lol

Save your wallet. Save the world. Buy Apple watches with sapphire screens on eBay.

I polished my Natural Ti to a mirror finish about a month ago (looks like SS now) and it still looks perfect

Thanks for the update! Keep ‘em coming. If the finish holds up over time, I‘m strongly considering doing this as well.

If there is any chance I‘d love a comparison picture next to a Steel Watch, just to see how different the hue of silver really is (or isn‘t).

Yeah, I don't know anyone with a silver SS Apple Watch, unfortunately ... only Space Grey or black or whatever it's called. And aluminum. Lots of aluminum. 🤣

I went Ti for the brushed finish. Not a fan of hi shine. Though series 4 black was my first and last SS I could get used to it again.
But if you did that yourself with a jewelers wheel or dremel tool via picture it looks like a nice job.

I think we’ll see a titanium model that looks just like the current one, but in 49mm size. Gotta put that larger battery somewhere.

Maybe add some additional coating to prevent scratches…and market it as the Apple Watch Pro. 🙄

I hope the ceramic makes a comeback some day. I can't stand any of the other finishes. Will be sticking with the 5 edition as long as it does the job...

I bought a Ti S6 2 years ago and it's practically scratch free with a few marks on the outer coating and not on the actual metal. What's happened now is the the battery is worn out and it's telling me SERVICE REQUIRED. Luckily, it's still under warranty and I did get AppleCare+ extending my warranty till 9/2023.

Does anyone have any experience if Apple simply "replaces" my Edition watch with another Ti S6? I am curious if they even have an S6 to replace it with TBH. Would they replace with a S7? Hmm. I read years back some folks lucked out and got a free upgrade to the next model year with their Edition AW since Apple will replace with a newer, equal model if they no longer have the originally purchased one.
