Article has more, and while it's from 2015 it's news to me. Hopefully not accurate, I don't recognize the source as being an acclaimed media outlet so this might be a rumor spin piece I accidentally put up as news? Which makes sense, otherwise this would have been heard all around the world last year (and even the BBC didn't report it and everyone loves ♥ to say they get more news covering America from the BBC than from American news outlets.)

Because it's always Ok to ask that awards be returned eight years after they're given.

That's like asking an Olympic athlete to return the gold medal cause in the intervening years he's gotten slow.

Not quite. It's like giving a weekend warrior the Olympic Gold because he/she started training 9 months ago for the Olympics.

The committee were just eager to give the prize to Not George Bush. So when Not George Bush became president of the USA they went for it. Obama just happened to be the one who picked up the phone when they called. They could not have known exactly how it would turn out, but awarding the prize to a sitting US president is always risky business.

Exactly. It's like Paul Krugman getting the Nobel Prize in Economics--that award had nothing to do with the previous eight years of Krugman's Bush-bashing NYT op-ed column.

Warbama, one of the all-time worst POTUS’ in history, has the distinction of being the first and only Nobel Peace Prize winner to bomb another Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Nobel Peace Prize: What Barack Obama's role in the Kunduz bombing means for the world’s most conflicted prize

The President's forces are being investigated for an unprovoked attack on a fellow laureate – which is a first

What is the point of the Nobel Peace Prize? Should the winner be someone we have all heard of? Should you have to give it back if you start blowing up other Nobel Peace Prize winners?

These are pressing questions this weekend as the world gets to know this year’s surprising winners and President Barack Obama’s forces are investigated for an unprovoked attack on a fellow laureate – which is a first, even in the long, strange history of the world’s most conflicted prize.

They took back Reggie Bush's Heisman five years later.
