Non-itunes music remotely to idevice?

Is it possible to get a music file from my macbook to an idevice remotely? What I mean is that say I had an iPhone/iPad and I was using iteleport to connect back to my macbook at home. If I downloaded a song from a blog on my macbook is it possible to get that song onto my idevice or at least play it on my ideivce? Wi-fi sync wouldn't work because the devices would be on different networks.
