They better make sure they have enough to do the job. Otherwise it won't even be a fair fight.

Our overconfidence could easily be our downfall. We think we are better than everyone else's military, but we are way too reliant on our technology. North Korea has a lot of good hackers and a digital equivalent of Pearl Harbor that knocks out a lot of that technology would leave us very vulnerable especially to a country like North Korea that can still fight a conventional war without much technology.

Islam and North Korea. The two things the west think they can make go away being being nice/pretending they aren't there

Ridiculously high numbers of Muslims believe or condone the antithesis of liberty, and provide a kind of worrisome cover for the 'extreme' (aka more devout) parts of the faith

Raheel Raza (and others) have broken down the pew poll of a few years ago

Exactly what relevance is Islam to this thread exactly?

True. However you leave out one factor. We have been engaged in wars for quite sometime. North Korea only has wargames. It's a little different when out on an actual battlefield. So in that regard we have an edge. But you are right, no one should ever get overconfident.

Still, when matching up our two forces, which do you think is a more likely scenario:

    • North Korea invades and takes over the U.S.
    • The U.S. invades North Korea and takes over handing things off to South Korea
North Korea has a lot of ground troops. We have both air and sea superiority. We also have allies. North Korea has...China? Do they even really have them? Their relationship seems iffy at times.

I'm glad you believe that people answering a poll equates with what they would actually do in situation X or Y.

How many Christians do you think would say that they actually support helping the poor but then go on to bitch about social programs?

The two things this forum didn't really need today, in my grouchy opinion

    1. another thread on how terrorism is not owned by any particular sect or group of people, and

    2. diversion of an existing thread into a discussion of Islam, terrorism and off topic posting.

    Congratulations on selecting door #2.

I would say option 3 would be the most likely, North Korea knocks out much of our technological infrastructure through a cyber attack and then invades and overruns South Korea. If the US is able to invade and gain a foothold North Korean troops fight a gurrilla war until we are worn down and withdraw or spend the rest of our money, go bankrupt and collapse.

North Korea isn't going to hack and shut down an aircraft carrier or stealth bomber. Just isn't going to happen.

North Korea is a lot of things, oppressive, provocative, totally backwards when it comes to infrastructure for everyone but the party elite, but they are NOT SUICIDAL.

These are shows of force, likely in response to the Saber Rattling coming from recent hearings by the likes of Lindsay Graham who on Dec. 6th declared in a Senate hearing that he was introducing legislation to authorize any means necessary to prevent North Korea from obtaining an ICBM.

This was AFTER the witnesses (General Keane) told them they shouldn't use military force to prevent North Korea from building it, stating : "General Keane: The reason for -- Senator, the reason
they have nuclear weapons is -- one reason. To preserve the
regime. They know, when you have nuclear weapons, we're not
going to conduct an invasion of North Korea. South Korea is
not going to do it, we're not going to do it."

    Excerpt of Senate testimony attached.

And Japan wasn't going to be able to hit Pearl Harbor. Hopefully you are correct, but I'm not so sure. Even if they didn't hack our carriers our ships and planes would be lost if they had to go back to navigating by the stars if something happened to the GPS satellites.

I'm sure there are countermeasures in place should some sort of GPS jamming occur. Probably things you and I don't even know about.
