Betty Shelby found not guilty of first-degree manslaughter in fatal shooting of unarmed black man Some people insist that the shooting was somehow motivated by race. Personally, I don't think race played a part. It was simply a person who has no business having a gun, let alone being a member of the police department, getting in a situation where she, flanked by several other police officers, was so afraid that her only instinct was to panic. The jury's verdict is puzzling to me. I would have thought that if you shoot an unarmed person and it is video'd, you are doing time. That's Oklahoma, I guess.
