Attorneys for President Trump are reportedly considering asking special counsel Robert Mueller to set a hard end date for his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election as one of the preconditions for an interview with president.

While Trump's lawyers remain split on the terms of such a deal, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, they also want Mueller to agree to parameters on the scope of such an interview.

One idea being floated is that Mueller would agree to wrap up the probe within 60 days of interviewing Trump.

Yeah Mueller isn't going to flinch, the investigation will be done his way and wrap up when he's done, that's all there is to it. Trump's behavior throughout this whole thing shows he's extremely worried about it.

You can tell Trump is like Jessup in A Few Good Men - he is begging to testify to tell everyone he's innocent and didn't do anything wrong. Mueller is likely to turn down such a requirement until he has everything he needs - then he might make a deal when it doesn't matter any more.

As the investigator, I suppose Mueller has little to gain from interviewing Trump when you know he will refuse to answer most questions, fail to remember others, and outright lie when it suits him. Mueller has to save him for late in the investigation so he can use the more reliable testimony and findings to show that Trump's versions of the stories are out of sync with the rest of his (former) team. I wonder if Trump's attorneys will say he is mentally unfit to be questioned? Ah...wishful thinking. Trump doesn't have to provide a reason. He just won't cooperate and will label the investigation as a sham.

The Onion reference fail. Nothing new except the 60 day thing. Limiting the scope of question is an automatic no-brainer. Good luck in Mueller agreeing to wrap this up in 60 days afterwards though.

Isn't this like the ultimate fail in deal making?

"IF YOU STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING, I'LL TALK TO YOU ABOUT WHAT I AM WILLING TO DISCUSS."

    o_O "Uhh, why?"

"How about you keep NOT talking about anything you don't want to discuss, and I'll just keep investigating that."

How does anyone think that's some kind of deal. If anything it comes across as tipping your hand.

"I don't want to talk about this, this, and this!"

"Hmm, Bob what do you think we should look at next?"

Pssssssttttttttt Jay, it’s a rumor on what counsel might be discussing between themselves and maybe present. You know, like a MacRumor article saying “Netflix might buy Apple to perhaps roll out an improved AppleTV or somethinglikethat.” It might not be an actual condition. And if it is, Mueller can say, “no”. :)

Despite what Trump tweets or what Hucksterbee says, Mueller has remained quiet and done his job. If Trump is absolved, what then? Should we still believe everything Trump said? I can truly see Trump being oblivious during the election, but allowing his ego to lead him to obstruction. However, his total blind-eye to anything negative about Russia is troublesome. It’s been almost 18 months and he’s really only tepidly acknowledging their interference in the election.

The sad part is he’s gotten his party to fall in line behind him by saying what is known, but really not caring. This would have been a bi-partisan issue not that long ago, no questions asked. It would be like some new drug epidemic. The laws everywhere would quickly outlaw it. Hostile nation interferes... eh, no biggie. It’s the damn porn and video games, we need to arm more people to stop the killings!

I used to believe that Mueller would likely find some wrongdoing but not actually charge Trump with anything but that seems to have changed and it's looking like there's a good chance he may be charged in a variety of different areas. One thing is for sure, Mueller is not playing around and whatever the decision is, we'll all likely have to accept it.

Yeah, I’m leaning more in your direction due to his flurry of tweets, the people who have fallen out with him speaking out, and as I mentioned, his refusal to really criticize Russia. He has no problem slinging mud, but search his thousands of tweets or interviews for anything negative on Russia. Zilch.

This is the third headline today that's making me question whether I'm dreaming or not. Off to see if the coffee maker is using vodka-water as a water source.

Ah, interesting. What type of investigator are you? We've got some former LEO here. One in particular likes blueberry scones.

The dossier... I really thought it seemed like an enquirer piece written by a news journalist. Well, the pee tape isn’t proven yet... but other parts?

Stormy Daniels is pretty obvious. We can debate the legality. I don’t care. Is she lying? Doubt it. More and more comes out. This is a guy who bragged about not changing his kids’ diapers. But he’s gonna bring back “beautiful, clean coal.”
